Although a hassle to book the laser cutter in the 3D workshop, Daniel and I managed to walk in and do it in 10 mins during a lecture.
I bought the 3mm plywood from the 3D workshop supplies and with help from technician set up the laser cutter. We taped the plywood down and set the lasers distance/thickness of the material. It was a very quick process just plugging a usb with the adobe illustrator design on. She then made sure our lines in the svg files were the right colour for the laser cutter to read to either cut, score, or engrave and that our dimensions fit on the board. We then let the magic happen. It was my first time using one so was shocked how quick and accurate it was.
Daniel then glued and attached the hinges to the lid (for accessing the bela board inside) at home as well as securing the sensors into the holes. Funnily we didn’t realise until this point that we spelled Soundscape wrong – just a prototype I guess but I think the engraving design turned out great.
