We were encouraged by our tutors to present at DM Lab an evening organised by Drake Music where people are invited to present their work and findings on accessible instrument building. The aim to bring together a community of musicians and builders to push innovation and access needs. It was organised by Rob Parton (DMLab Project Manager & Associate Fundraiser) and Deborah Borg Brincat (Programme Delivery Manager). The night was BSL interpreted and live captioned. The presenters before us shared their interesting research on making DJing more accessible.
Unfortunately none of our tutors could make it to the event so we presented by ourselves with a brief video introduction from Annie Goh outlining the course and this specific module. We were a little underprepared for such a formal evening however it was good public speaking experience (I definitely have a long way to improve) and a great way to hear feedback on our project. We went through the process of the development of ideas, concept, coding and making etc., gave a demo, and answered questions at the end as well as letting people try it for themselves.
