Daniel and I used adobe illustrator to edit a simple svg template of a box from the internet. (makercase.com) We added four circles to mount each sensor on making sure they are far enough apart to stop interference as well as ease of use especially for somebody who struggles with mobility. We also added cutouts for the cables, ultrasonic sensors usb power and minijack output.
Decided the name and found a nice pattern to accompany it to make it seem like a properly manufacturable instrument. Placed on the back like many other instrument brands. Air as it uses your movement in the air to generate sound and soundscape generator as it is essentially a ready-to-use standalone sampler for soundscape composition.
We decided on 3mm plywood as the material as it is common for these types of DIY project – light and easy to use. We used finger joints on the edges to easily construct and strengthen the box.
