Waves: As well as the obvious sound waves, I think there is an ebb and flow, peak and trough, give and take, breath in everything – music, art, life – which I hope to communicate through my work. Feelings when listening like the meditative drifting in and out of focus or the excitement of a rush of sound hitting you or the stillness of silence. I also just love the sound of waves on a beach.
Atmosphere: I want to create pieces that evoke places or sensations for people to expereience both cerebraly or physically. There is a beauty and energy to shared experience whether it be dancing in a club or sitting at the edge of your seat in a cinema. Conversely individual tastes, interpretations, memory, impressions, opinions, subconscious are also important. Capturing real places, people and stories sort of journalistically appeals to me too.
Radical: Putting sound infront of the visual, taking up space with something invisible, truly listening, pushing the boundaries of convention, constantly experimenting, curiosity, turning away from tradition, engaging with the social and political. I believe sound art is a radical practice.
